Your face can indicate lots of things - not only emotions but also your health condition, and even age. That’s why skin care, especially for face, is now become a routine for most women, and well, even for men. Facial masks such as sheet masks can help solve a lot of facial issues and improve overall skin condition on your face.
If you use facial masks a lot, you should be quite familiar with several or more types of them. For example, sheet masks, cream masks, charcoal masks, and sleep masks. Each of these mask types has its advantages and disadvantages. In this article, yet, I will mainly focus on sheet masks.
If you are reading this article, you should be looking for facial masks. But do you know how to choose and use facial masks in the right way?
As a matter of fact, some people just have a superficial understanding of facial masks - they know facial masks are beneficial to the skin, but what they do not know is that different types of facial masks work for different purposes. The consequence? The mask is not effective, and what’s worse, brings negative effects such as allergic issues.
Therefore, it’s better and safe to make clear your purpose of using the face mask. Hydration, anti-acne, anti-wrinkle, whitening, or others?
And, you should know about your skin type. Is it normal, dry, oily, combination, or sensitive? Since some facial masks are good for some skin types while not fit for the rest types. Improper masks on your face will result in trouble.
Good news is that in most cases, sheet masks are suitable for all skin types. So if you are not very sure your skin type, maybe sheet masks are the best choice. In this case, they are the best facial mask option because they are gentler to your skin than other mask types.
A sheet mask is a face-sized fabric filled with one or more active ingredients. They are convenient to use because you just need to fit the whole piece onto your face, without smearing over and over again as you do with cream or gel masks.
Sheet facial masks are extremely effective in hydrating. You may find hyaluronic acid, ceramides, and antioxidants in most sheet masks. These ingredients can help increase water content so you can get hydrated. These sheet masks are also great to fight against fine lines and acne.
Most sheet masks are rinse-free, which is the most adorable part to me. You just need to put it on your face, wait until your face absorbs complete, peel it off. That’s all. And because they are super watery, they won’t dry your skin as clay masks do.
Sheet masks are versatile yet not omnipotent. If you also expect exfoliating or cleansing feature, then sheet masks are not the way to go. In this case, I suggest you turn to other types of facial masks such as peel off or clay masks.

Made with super-hydrating combination of collagen and hyaluronic acid, and a unique blend of black tea and spinach extract, these sheet masks provide basic mask function - hydrating, moisturizing and brightening.
And the activated bamboo charcoal ingredient ensures an effective detoxification by absorbing oil, impurities, and complexion-dulling toxins from your skin.
Facial masks are benefitial, but that doesn’t mean that you must use them every day. So how often should you use them? I’m sure you’ve heard quite many different answers to that: every day, every other day, once a week, etc.
Well, according to my experience, that depends on your skin type and condition. For example, if your skin is very dry, it would be good to use facial masks a little frequent.
Just as we’ve mentioned at the beginning, sheet masks are easier to use than other types of facial mask. But there are steps that you should not skip. And below are the steps to apply a facial sheet mask.
1. Cleanse your face and towel dry
2. Take out the face mask sheet and unfold
3. Place the sheet mask from your forehead to match eye and lip area
4. Smooth out the facial mask on your face
5. Leave the facial mask on about 20-25 minutes until the face mask dries
6. Remove the sheet mask and gently dab your skin with hands to absorb remaining serum
Note: For better result, do not wash your face immediately after application – leave your skin without wash at least a few hours.
